On iPhone, you can make your screen dimmer or brighter (dimming the screen extends battery life). You can also adjust the screen brightness and color manually or automatically with Dark Mode, True Tone, and Night Shift.
Apple have asked me to perform a clean install of the OS on a partitioned disk which I refuse to do because, 1) I have read on other forums it doesn't solve the issue. 2), I don't have time or sufficient storage space.
Having that said, I see 11.4 is now available but it won't let me update. It comes up with Download failed. Why is this and is anyone else experiencing the same issue? I have around 12GB free storage. Surely thats enough to update.
In my case, disabling (unchecked) the Display setting High Dynamic Range (automatically adjust the display to show high dynamic range content) brightened to display back to full brightness, but management of brightness range is still not operational.
This is something I like to do manually several times a day as I have sensitive eyes! I used to be able to access it quickly via the bottom right hand corner of my screen. With Windows 11, it seems the only way is to go into start menu>settings>system>display>brightness....
Five clicks is fine, I'm not impatient, but that feels like an awful lot of visually navigating around the screen trying to read stuff, exactly at the moment when your the brightness is not working well for your eyes! Surely there is some new shortcut I'm missing?
I have a new Laptop Hp Mod 15-da0014dx, is there a way to adjust screen brightness? My last 2010 Hp laptop I adjusted the brightness from those two star icons on the top left, on this new laptop they dont work.
If the above doesn't work, please uninstall the drivers and restart the computer for it to automatically reinstall the same, and then update the drivers using the HP website:
Click here to find and install the updates for BIOS, Chipset and graphics card drivers.
Nothing worked to adjust screen brightness, just dont understand why something so simple has to be so complicated. I managed to get one picture on here when I first go to settings taken with my phone, the other pictures I wanted to show but for some reason this site wont download them because files are to big and I dont how to make the picture files smaller.
I did what you said but nothings working, still cant adjust screen brightness, after going through all that clicking the last thing on the screen says>>>"The best drivers for your device are already installed", That ofter link you sent might take me in over my head, not sure if I can figure that out. thanks for trying to help.
Restart the pc when done and it should automatically reinstall the drivers, this should resolve the issue if it doesn't, the best way to install the drivers since the last link seemed complicated is to install the HP Support Assistant: Click here for details.
Finally I found this video on Youtube tonight, the poor mans coleage school, from 0-:55 is what worked for me. I spent the last 5 nights or about 12 hours trying to find and or figure this adjusting screen brightness out, 12 hours for :55 seconds to solve a problem, now the star icons on the top left of my key board are working and I now have the brightness bar in the settings.
Everything works fine so far however the screen brightness / backlight cannot be adjusted neither by using the assigned key nor by any other means.I know, I'm not the first to address this problem, but all the suggested solutions I found so far did not work for me. I unsuccessfully tried the following:
As you can see, the output for me is dell_backlight and intel_backlight. An indicator that the graphics card in use is Intel. Another way to find out the graphics card would be to go in System Settings->Details->Graphics. You can see the graphic card in use.
Well the most satisfying solution I found was to disable my discrete Nvidia-GPU with gfxCardStatus under OSX and to reboot into Ubuntu. However, this is not very elegant and therefore I'm still looking for similar ways in Ubuntu. So if anyone knows a way to disable the Nvidia GPU under Ubuntu let me know. I've tried bumblebee, however unsuccessfully. Apparently it's not compatible with my MacBook or MacBooks in general, as Mac don't use the Optimus technology. Honestly I have no real knowledge about all this stuff, I just want Ubuntu to run elegantly on my system.
Very excited about this release! I stayed up all night to get it right when it dropped. I have a laptop I've installed AtlasOS on (Win10 based). However, after installing the playbook and getting everything configured, the screen brightness no longer works.
The hardware buttons make the brightness slider move up and down, but the screen just stays on full brightness. I found another thread suggesting I install a third-party screen brightness control, however that did not work (I tried a few of them, same issue). I've also tried various Powershell commands to change the brightness, but they don't actually do anything.
NanLv I'm on a Surface Laptop 3 which coincidentally also has an AMD CPU. I wouldn't be surprised if it's some sort of power state issue, since the laptop goes dead really fast as well even with the lid closed.
Same issue. 2017 Dell XPS13 2-in-1, i7-1065G7, Intel Iris UHD display adapter. Brightness control works just before executing the Atlas playbook, slider appears and moves but brightness does not change immediately after executing the playbook. Uninstalling / deleting / reinstalling drivers from a separate driver installer package succeeds through installation and the driver is running effectively with a moving brightness slider, but screen brightness remains unchaging.
This is a dealbreaker for Atlas use on my laptop. The display is HDR rated and is unbearably bright at its highest setting (where it is currently stuck) in a dark room, not to mention the battery savings that I could be getting by decreasing backlight intensity.
I know this isn't a complete fix, but a workaround may be a program like "Dimmer". At a glance, it appears to work differently in dimming the screens, and I actually use it on some of my desktop computers. The only real downside it is also dims screenshots and screen snips.
I have the same thing. Several settings are no longer selectable including brightness, screen wake, DDD. So now my watch won't turn on with the wrist and it's super dark, going to need a hotfix for this last patch is seems because this is really bad.
My brightness will no allow change either. It is set on dim. Also the Screen Wake mode is set at manual, and not in bold. I can't change this either. First I noted this problem was after I changed the clock face to the new blood oxygenation face. Not sure if that changed it.
Now I know from trying to find an answer to this to go uncheck the auto adjust box, since apparently it got checked when I updated to Mavericks, but now it seems my MacBook Pro has a mind of its own and still feels the need to auto adjust when I'm not doing anything.
I made sure 10 times at least that the auto adjust box wasn't checked, and it's not. So why is my Mac randomly doing this? (and btw, this only started today, and I got the update on the first day it was available)
It may have to do with your charger.
I had the same problem; look at your charger, the lights probably keep changing from green to orange to nothing. When you plug in your adapter it automatically adjusts your brightness, the bad contact makes it do this over and over again.
I just had this issue when "upgrading" the OS. It stopped auto-adjusting after I unchecked the box "Slightly dim the display while on battery power." This is found in System Preferences / Energy Saver / Battery. I know that's a different function, but it would appear there's a bug where the auto-adjust is tied to that checkbox instead of the one it's supposed to be tied to.
FWIW I've had this problem in Ventura, and the problem was that System settings > Battery > Low Power mode was set to Only on Battery and went dim every time I took the charger cable out, or every time I closed the lid whilst on battery.
I just switched from Pioneer DDJ 1000 to DENON Prime 4 white edition. Thanks to the feedback of fellow redditeers. So far, I am loving the unit. There are a few things here and there, but I have read almost every where that the folks at DENON listen to your requests and implement them in the future update.
Yes also came over from a DDJ1000, got my Prime 4 White less than a week ago and really enjoying it so far. I also have the same problem, I can go into settings and change the brightness of the jog wheels but the screen always stays the same
I am a first time Linux user. I just bought a new System76 Lemur Pro laptop and I didn't like the pop!_OS they had as default, so I watched a few youtube videos about which Linux OS I should get and the one that I liked the most was Zorin OS.
So the other day I installed it no problem. Felt like a true hacker. And now that I've spent some time setting everything up to be basically 100% exactly how I want it, I notice that the bloody screen brightness cannot be adjusted!
Linux is so overwhelming and it literally took me a few days to find the OS I like, and now to find that I can't change the screen brightness is just painful. Here is the configuration of my laptop as it came in the mail recently:
I honestly don't even know if that information would be relevant but I just want to be able to adjust the screen brightness already I've been at this for more than 2 days and I just want to use my new laptop already
P.S. I have sensitive eyes and I usually always use a few different bluelight blocking filters + glasses + screen stickers on as well as a low screen brightness so this is honestly a huge deal for me not to be able to control this one little thing.
Yay I sort of got something to work lol. I wasn't able to get the brightnessctl to work at all but I was unaware of the "software manager" thing so I went there and found a rather mediocre app called "Change PC Brightness" that has a little button in the corner that I have to click and scroll and I can adjust the screen brightness that way. I guess it gets the job done so I'm pretty stoked on that despite it's rather user-unfriendliness tbh haha.
