Thank you all who attended our first meetup on Monday March 28th.
Since nobody seemed particularly averse to meeting on the Easter
Monday it looks like the next meetup will be April 25th. Stay tuned
for additional details to follow.

SOUP TO NUTS: Website in an hour!

We will set up a web server, database and php on Linux.
This will be essentially an intro to LAMP, but we hope for
interjections and audience participation in the discussions so bring
your expertise if you're not a beginner.

See you there.

Just a reminder that we will indeed be having our second meetup on
April 25th at 6PM at Tipping Canoe (101-141 Bannatyne St.)
There were several suggestions made at the last meeting for future
topics people would like to see - would anybody be up for making a
presentation themselves?
Don't be shy. Let's get this open source community hopping.
Hope to see you all next week.

Last week’s PHP Meetup was a lot of fun with a lot of new faces and a
lot of ideas thrown around about where we should go from here. The
topic was “Soup to Nuts: Website in an Hour”. I gave a demo on how
to quickly launch a blog site using a hosting service, a quick mysql
setup using PHPmyadmin, and WordPress for content management. This
prompted a lively discussion about frameworks and scalability that
promises to bear fruit in future topics. I was happy with the
turnout: students, developers, designers and even some Microsoft guys
proving that “code is code” and we all just love what we do.
I want to thank everybody for the feedback we received. It is highly
valued and will help us line up future events that will meet your
needs and wants. We already have topics lined up for the next couple
of meetups before the summer holidays kick in. This month's will be:

Maintain Sanity on Large Projects: OOP in PHP 5.3
