Hi Guys,

In one of the part of Lab 45 it's mentioned that " Vancouver Users make National Call to numbers in Toronto 416 area code. HQ gateway should used to route these calls"
Does this means to test it by calling 1416 447 9999 or 1416 207 2XXX as well?

If we have to check both then we might have to create 2 Route Pattern ( 91416.447XXXX and 9141620X.XXXX  Pre-dot) and 2 Route list.

Thx
Raman

It means that if a User in Vancouver is calling a Toronto Number TEHO should be used and these calls should use the Toronto gateway to the PSTN as a first choice, and then use the Vancouver gateway and dial as long distance as a second choice.  In the real world, Translation patterns should be created to stop users in Vancouver from dialing numbers located at the HQ site, and Dialing the 10 digit number will match the TEHO Pattern, and will not be routed on the Exam.

I suggest  you create a Translation pattern 9141620X2XXX --> 2XXX

It only talks about reaching 416 code numbers in PSTN.

It does not include HQ IP phones.

For HQ IP phones, it will be always thru IP network when CUCM is working and Vancouver is able to reach the CUCM.

If Vancouver can not reach CUCM, then Vancouver phones can reach the HQ IP phones thru HQ gateway. I am not sure if the question is asking to do this.

Thanks
Ravi

Thanks all for the replies. One more question though :)

Lab 46  46.4.1
Last 2 points are

1. Configure local route group for all the alove calls
2. Toronto usesr make national call to numbers in Vancouver 604 area code ( TEHO Call)

Do we have to use local route group for this or we can use HQ gateway directly?  It's nowhere mention which method to use. So I believe we can any of below. Just want to confirm.

1 - SiteB-GW
     Standard Local Route Group

2 - SiteB-GW
     HQ-GW

Sorry forget to mention one more thing. In Lab 46 we are using Local Route Group for HQ and SiteB calls. So when they are saying call like 911 and local calls where we sending same number of digits to both gateways  Are they looking  for single router pattern ( No Partition) for both sites  or we can use different Route Patterns( HQ-PT and SiteB-PT), as there are just 2 sites in Lab scenerio. Just asking from testing point of view as both will accomplish the give task.

You have to know the concept of Local Route groups and how you assign them.

Firstly, you create a Route group for each site and place the Local gateway in it.

Only local/ 911 calls will go out this gateway.

I don't think I asked for the way to create/assign local route group. My question was different. But anyways thanks for the reply.

It means that users are calling numbers on the Toronto PSTN. As I
said in my last email but maybe didn't expalin well--> if you create
a TEHO pattern for Site B to call Toronto PSTN of 91416[2-9}XXXXXX if
the proctor dials 141620X2001, the call will be routed via the TEHO
patter out the HQ Gateway, and the PSTN router will not allow the
call.

This is why you should create a Translation pattern for SiteB users of
91416207.2XXX with a predot in this way the call will be completed
over the network, use AAR, and work for SRST as well
