Hi Harith,

With regards with the gatekeeper registration and PSTN issue on my
previous POST to you. Have you read it? We have spend too much time
trying to figure out whether there is issue with remote gatekeeper
site or our side gatekeeper. Will you at least have the kind
consideration to reply?

Also, tell us the configuration of the remote gatekeeper so that we
can have something to troubleshoot instead of playing around with zone
name, capital letter, domain name etc.

Also, what is the PSTN configuration.

So, site C cannot called site B internal number through PSTN, right??
What other issue we have to be aware of..

Later,

John

Hi,

Sorry for the late reply as we had lot of issues with our backbone devices.
I hope everything is settled now. Please let mw know if you face any problem
after this change.

You can do two experiments on our backbone GK.

1) As per Mock 47

* Configure your zones as winnet-ccm and winnet-cme with domain name
cisco.com
* Our backbone zone is GK-UK
* Our backbone will accept the call for UK with tech prefix 1# as
well tech prefix 65. ( I have not checked with 65. But with 1# definitely
wotking.)
* Our backbone can reach the UK number "011 44 20 7096 1039" and "
00 44 20 7096 1039". Both will work.

2) If you want to experiment with Alternate GK.
* Configure a single zone for CME and CCM as "winnet" with cisco.com
* Everything else remain same.

We will accept G711u as well as G729 calls on our BB.

I hope this will help you. Please do the experiment and let me know your
feed back.

Thank You.,

Also you have to try the following.

Configure winnet-ccm with tech-prefix 3# and winnet-cme with tech-prefix 4#.

Make sure that your calls to UK should be routed through the GK at the BB. It’s tech prefix is 1#.

To do this exercise you may need to use “hopoff prefix”. Check this.

If you try with two different tech-prefix for SiteA and SiteC, it should work.

Subject: Re: Backbone GK Configuration

Hello Harith

I tested alternate GK scenario, it allows the 44 call to go through the BB GK, but I am not able to call between Site A and Site C.

It looks like that the configuration for calls to flow between site A and C is missing on the BBGK, which terminate the call.

So, will it be correct to say, that on Alternate GK, we need to have the same GK configuration, which we have configured on R1 Router.

Regards,
Amit Sonik
