Work around bug 5. Capturing doesn't work under Linux when a menu is open 1718

The workaround is not conclusive. I ends with tones of unnecessary
print-screens or if I set Timed Capture low, broken print screens, and
I will have to edit heavily all the presentation.

I intend to do fairly long presentations. This bug has a strong impact
on the result. The only option would be to SHIFT+PAUSE (Timed Capture
set to 1 frame/sec or less) open the menu and immediately after to
disable Time Capture, and carry on with the Pause key (manual print
screens) on the opened menu.

SHIFT+PAUSE starts Time Capture, but there is know short cut at my
knowledge to cancel it. As a result, not only the move from the window
to the upper panel to reach Wink icon is recorded, but it also take a
great amount of time (and unnecessary distance) while focusing on a
recording.

Any advice? Is there a quick way to Cancel Shift+Pause from the
keyboard? Thanks

EDIT: it is more complicate than that.

SHIFT+PAUSE starts and keeps taking print screen until the menu is
closed. Then SHIFT+PAUSE cancel the function correctly

I spend some time with the menus open, so I would like to disable the
print screens once (or as soon as) the menu is open - this could be a
viable workaround for me

However, I believe the only reason Timed Capture bypass the bug is
because it locks the process to Windows manager

Of course there is. Just hit Shift-Pause again. I set the time at
two per second and have no trouble with menus. Just be deliberate
with your menu clicks, IOW go slow rather than see how fast you can
click through, and hit Shift-Pause again as soon as you've made you
menu choice and there will only be a very few screens to delete.

Why would you spend time with the menus open? If you want your play
back to have the menu open, just edit the time in the individual
frames. IOW, you can click through a menu at normal speed and then in
the presentation, change the time each menu selection is viewed. Or,
have the audio file explaining the menu's functions do the timing.
Wink won't advance to the next frame until the audio finishes playing.

This is a huge editing hassle. Effectively, that's what I am doing
now, but what gain in time and simplicity to manually control the
prints creens pace and then only do some corrections/editing. Manual
print screen is indeed the purpose of Wink, vs. a standard video
recording+editing application.
