Oracle DBA

Location: Cary, NC 

Duration:  Long Term/Full Time

 

NOTES:  Level 3 (Work Ex 8+ years).  Must be willing to travel for 4 weeks to Charlotte for initial training.

Responsibilities :
-       Manage a team of Oracle and SQL DBAs
-       Adhering to SLAs
-       Mentoring / Training Team Members
-       Handling tickets / requests
-       Perform root cause analysis
-       Troubleshooting technical issues
-       Defining processes and ensuring that the processes are adhered to
-       Oversees and is responsible for successful completion of Installation, configuration and migration
-       Ensure maximum uptime according to the SLA
-     Understanding of Multi-geo support environment
-       Responsible for building / maintaining a test environment
-       Responsible for strategizing a backup plan and test plan for failure scenario
-       Improves and maintains customer and employee satisfaction
-       Suggests new technologies and design changes
-       Monitoring and maintaining SLA requirements by the team members
-     Planning Backup/Restoration Strategy for 24x7 operation support
-       Suggesting patches/upgrades to maintain security level
-       Testing / Auditing/processes as required from time to time
-       Identify Skill gaps and plan for training / knowledge updating
-       Ready for 24 X 7 operations support

Technical Requirements
-       Evaluate the Database Server Hardware.
-       Define/Recommend/Maintain database Standards and Architecture.
-       Expert in Database Design.
-       Future Release management for database/instance and Impact Analysis.
-       Research/Recommend Migration/Upgradation
-       3rd Party Vendor Support and Interaction(including TAR and OS) and can handle Client Independently
-       Technical Consultation.
-       Should be able to mentor L1 and L2 DBAs
-       Should be able to Lead the Team of DBAs
-       Should be able to diagnose clustered environment
-       Advance Database Performance Tuning – Tuning Applications, Instance/Kernel Parameters and Tuning Memory.
-       Should be able to perform database reorganization
-       Usage of AWR and ADDM, translate this and suggest the improvement based on this
-       Recommend and Review Backup and Recovery Strategies using RMAN or tools.
-       Knowledge of Advanced Replication, Queuing and Streams.
-       Hands on experience of configuration & administration of Oracle High Availability Solutions.
-       Good Working experience of Installation & administration of RAC 9i, 10g ,11g (Real Application Clusters).
-       Flash Recovery Features & Flash back query.
-       Having experience of DR setup through various synch methods.
-       Designing strategy towards Capacity Management(Growth) for DB tracks.
- Good hands on in Database migrations & transformations tasks
-              Administering SSRS, SSIS and SSAS (Functional knowledge will be an added advantage)
-              High Availability Features (Failover Clustering, Database Mirroring, Log Shipping, Replication)
-              Designing SQL Server Security (Server hardening, Auditing, SOX compliance
-              Knowledge about new feature of MS SQL Server 2008, 2010 and 2012 (Policy Based Management, Resource Governor, Etc.)
-       Designing/Recommending Database Security Policy.
- Knowledge about the Exadata storage

Soft Skills
-       Excellent communication and conversation skills (Verbal and Written)
-       Good documentation skills
-       Good working knowledge of MS OFFICE (Including MS Project and Visio)
-       Should have a great customer handling skills
-       Able to handle unforeseen situations
-       High level of acceptance
-       Can drive HCL’s value and its methodology

Other Skills / Experience
-      Worked on Production systems
-              Datacenter understanding
-       Experience with Database Migration, Installation, Upgrades and Patching
-       Knowledge of Data warehousing and Other Technologies(RDBMS)
-       Knowledge of Data Guard / Gateways
-       Storage Management Techniques
-       Experience on Sun / Veritas / Microsoft Cluster
