Acer Extensa 5620-6419 running Ubuntu Studio 12.04 (XFCE Desktop,
Thunar File Manager)

When attempting to convert any video file to an avi file and using any
of the XviD settings, I receive the following error message:

[libxvid @ 0x9571960] [Eval @ 0xbfd7abbc] Undefined constant or
missing '(' in 'aic'

[libxvid @ 0x9571960] Unable to parse option value "aic"

[libxvid @ 0x9571960] Error setting option trellis to value -aic.

If I use the preset MS Compatible AVI, the conversion proceeds
smoothly but, of course, the resultant avi file is not widescreen (as
was the original).

Can anyone help me?

This issue has been fixed in the latest presets file available from our
download section:
http://code.google.com/p/winff/downloads/detail?name=presets-libavcodec53-v4.xml.gz

Please read http://code.google.com/p/winff/wiki/InstallPresetsxml
for installation instructions. In the Ubuntu version, you might need to
hit Yes quite often. If you didn't make any changes or added presets
yourself, you can simple replace the ~/.winff/presets.xml file with the
unzipped file.
