Yes, UAlbany students, faculty, and staff can create a free account on EndNote Online through our subscription to the Web of Science database. This will allow you to take advantage of some, although not all, of the basic functionality of EndNote without buying the desktop version.

The point of the software discounts to students and faculty is to build a user base who will then pay full price, ideally for the rest of their careers. This is the same for versions of MS Office and discounted computing equipment bought through college stores or school districts. Other consumer products also try to capture young customers, betting [often correctly] that the products people use when they are just starting out will be ones that are used for decades afterwards.

EndNote is available for all Rutgers affiliated students, faculty, and staff. This is a licensed (subscription) product, so you need to download it from the library in order to gain full access to the software.

EndNote is commercial bibliographic management software that enables authors to manage, organize, and annotate references and bibliographies. It is widely used for managing citations when preparing manuscripts to publish articles, books, dissertation, etc. It is available as a free download to all NJIT students and faculty.

Michigan Tech faculty, staff, and students may install EndNote on a work or personal computer for University work. EndNote is available for both Windows and Mac OS X and can be accessed though IT's Software Distribution Center. Software downloads are available to students during the semesters/tracks where they are actively enrolled. There may be periods between semesters where software downloads are unavailable. For assistance installing EndNote on a campus computer, contact IT. Students can also visit EndNote technical support for information on common installation issues.

EndNote is software that helps you manage your research and format your citations. EndNote is licensed for use by current Northeastern faculty, staff, and students. It comes with a plug-in for Word, called Cite While You Write.

UH Manoa students, faculty and staff can purchase a copy of EndNote at a discounted rate through UH Information Technology Services (ITS). Visit the ITS Endnote Site License Program page to learn how to order your copy.

EndNote Online (also sometimes known as EndNote Basic) accounts are available free to UO faculty, students, and staff. Register for an account from a UO computer or using the UO's VPN. Once the account is created, you do not have to use the VPN or a UO computer)

The EndNote desktop software is available for purchase. It is similar to the online version, but with many more bells and whistles. UO does not have a site license. There's an academic discount for students, but not faculty or staff.

Students and staff can create an EndNote Web account by accessing Web of Science via Himmelfarb. Once in Web of Science, click on "EndNote" on the top of the page to create your account. EndNote Web does not offer the same extent of functionalities available via EndNote desktop. Himmelfarb library primarily supports RefWorks, and we encourage students to use that reference manager instead.

There is also a web-based version of EndNote with limited functionality (registration required - free to Aston staff and students), but which may be useful if you wish to access your EndNote Library from a number of different computers.

Through an extension of the university license both staff and students are permitted for personal use of Endnote during employment at the university or while studying at the university. This is compatible with both Mac and Windows. You can request the EndNote software to install on your device via Digital Services. For any queries please contact the IT helpdesk.
