I can’t host but I can attend. I can host in May or June.

Thanks,

Robert

Good morning All,

As we sort out our next wine tasting (let’s try for early June given Cody and Robert’s travel schedules), please see the attached.

As you all know, our wine group started in 2007 (or as Kyle likes to say, the same year as the first I-Phone!).  Starting around 2012, I started keeping copies of all the wine lists provided for each tasting, thus creating the Virginia Wine Group Library.  My great regret is not capturing the lists prior to 2012, but, oh well…..

The attached is a list of the wines from all those wine lists.  I  acknowledge there may be some mistakes in reporting but I did the best I could with the lists I had.  That written, some fun facts:

  • The list totals 353 wines, 261 reds, 78 whites and 14 other;
  • We have tried wines from 18 countries.  The top three are;
    • 167 from the USA
    • 65 from France
    • 42 from Italy
  • By my count, we have tasted wine from 251 different producers.  Of the producers, we have tasted 8 wines from Ridge and 6 wines from Costco/Kirkland. (This does not include wines where we had a specific producer tasting.  For instance, I did a wine tasting of wines from the Ravines Winery, from the Finger Lakes of New York);
  • The 2010’s decade is the most popular decade of tasting (stands to reason).  The 2012 vintage is the most popular with 43 wines tasted from that vintage.

So there you have it.  Have fun reviewing.  I will update as we have future tastings.  If you see any errors or can fill in any of the many blanks, please let me know.

I hope this inspires us to keep going!

Justin

So cool Justin. Thx for doing this. I wish we could put this into ChatGPT and ask it to pick the wines for us.

Thanks

Hi Justin,

Thanks for tracking all this. Very interesting to see what we have been drinking over the years.

Thanks,

Robert
