Dealingwith a phobia can have a significant impact on your life. If you have a phobia or feel as though you react strongly to certain things, it is likely that you will go to great lengths to avoid the object or situation that you are afraid of. This can lead to social isolation, as well as feelings of anxiety and depression.

Exposure therapy involves becoming exposed to the triggers for a period of time to desensitize the sensitivity around the trigger as well as transform the association that was made by allowing the physiology to have time to take in the information that it is in fact safe.

One of the most effective ways to overcome a phobia is through Emotional Freedom Techniques or EFT. This is a type of energy psychology that can help to release the emotions that are attached to your fear.

EFT works by tapping on specific meridian points on your body while you focus on your fear. This helps to release the emotional energy that is causing your fear to persist and allows you to start to let go of it.

EFT has been shown to be particularly effective for treating phobias, and it can often provide relief from symptoms after just a few sessions. If you think that you might benefit from EFT for phobias, then it is important to speak to a qualified therapist who can assess your individual needs and provide the right treatment for you.

Nora is a licensed psychotherapist who holds an EFT level 2 certification, which she pursued after being trained in EMDR. She offers this treatment technique to her clients and has successfully helped many individuals overcome their phobias.

Several underlying factors can cause a flying phobia. The reasons for a flying phobia are as unique as the individuals who have them. There might have been a traumatic flight (e.g. a flight with a lot of turbulence), a parent that modelled fear, or more related fears (heights, small spaces), or on a deeper, unconscious level uncertainty and fears about life and death.

When the flying phobia includes panic attacks and severe anxiety a visit to the psychiatrist is important. If someone has a milder form of flying phobia, seeing the psychologist for psychotherapy can be enough to deal with this phobia. Research findings in the mental health field indicate that patients getting psychiatric treatment (medication) benefit from also getting psychotherapy. This combination of psychiatric and psychological services is called pharmacotherapy. At CHMC in Dubai, the psychiatrist and psychologist do their independent assessments within their professional knowledge and work as a treatment team choosing the best therapy option for the patient.

It is the most common of all anxiety disorders. Studies indicate that about 1 in 7 people suffer from a social phobia at some time in their lives. Anyone can develop it. It is usual to have an early age of onset, with almost 100% of sufferers having it by the age of 20 and many of these by the age of 10.

Self-help is difficult because the phobia does not usually go away on its own. Some people may be able to cope by avoiding certain stressful situations, but this does not solve the basic problem. Professional help should be sought. This includes counselling techniques and medications, which can be used separately or in combination.

A little bit of social anxiety is a very normal part of life. Managing social anxiety is a part of becoming emotionally mature and accepting of our human nature. Meeting the demands of a new professional role, trying new activities and being out of our comfort zone can trigger anxiety. An extreme form of social anxiety is called social phobia. This disorder triggers by social exposer fear, self-consciousness and embarrassment. Many people also use the word social phobia for this disorder.

CHMC is German Psychiatric Clinic treating the entire spectrum of mental health conditions, among them social phobia. The step preliminary to treatment of social phobia in our clinic in Dubai is in-depth diagnosis necessary to exclude other psychiatric conditions.

The idea behind CBT is that a person begins to change thinking that keeps them trapped in fear and avoidance. A psychologist or counselor will provide a safe, non-judgmental setting. There the patient can discuss their thoughts and feelings to make corrections in their thinking. Psychotherapy also provides an opportunity to gain social experience and competence. The new skills the patient will carry over into other social settings.

Understanding the origins of our fears and phobias can be complex, as they often arise from a combination of genetic predispositions, neural pathways in our brain, and the cumulative impact of our life experiences.

Genetic Influence: Just as we inherit physical traits from our ancestors, we can also inherit a tendency towards anxiety and fearfulness. Research suggests that if your immediate family members suffer from specific phobias or generalized anxiety, you might have a higher risk of experiencing similar issues. This genetic predisposition means that some individuals are naturally more sensitive to stress and potentially fear-inducing situations.

Life Experiences: Perhaps the most influential factor in developing fears and phobias is our personal history. Traumatic events, especially those in childhood, can leave a lasting impression, teaching us to associate certain situations or objects with fear. For example, a person who experienced a dog attack as a child may develop cynophobia, an intense fear of dogs, carrying this phobia into adulthood.

Understanding these roots can be the first step towards addressing and overcoming fears and phobias. By acknowledging the complex interplay of genetics, brain chemistry, personal history, and learned behaviors, individuals can begin to unpack their fears, working through them with techniques such as hypnotherapy, which aims to address these deeply ingrained patterns and foster a new sense of calm and control.

Fears and phobias may seem like mysterious forces that unexpectedly seize control of our emotions and reactions, but they are, in fact, deeply rooted in the complex interplay of genetics, environment, and personal experiences. This understanding not only demystifies these intense reactions but also offers a pathway toward addressing and overcoming them.

The intricate relationship between these factors means that phobias are not simply signs of weakness or lack of willpower. They are psychological patterns formed through complex processes. However, understanding this also provides a glimmer of hope: just as these patterns are learned, they can also be unlearned or modified.

This is where hypnotherapy comes into play. By accessing the subconscious mind, hypnotherapy allows individuals to explore and understand the origins of their fears and phobias. More importantly, it facilitates a process of reshaping those deep-seated associations and reactions, providing a powerful tool for change.

Fears and phobias are an intrinsic part of the human condition, often expanding beyond mere discomfort to restrict our daily lives significantly. These profound, sometimes illogical fears stem not from our immediate reactions but from deeper within our subconscious mind, a realm beneath our conscious awareness where hypnotherapy can make a significant impact.

Hypnotherapy targets the subconscious to transform fear responses, offering a lasting solution to fears and phobias. We customizes this approach, leading to significant personal growth and enhanced resilience, empowering individuals for a life beyond fear.

About Hypnosis Hypnosis is a way to directly connect to the subconscious mind to use inner wisdom and guidance for physical, mental and emotional improvement. It can help a person to instinctively solve problems, accomplish goals and push aside fear when it is not needed. Because hypnosis is natural and holistic, it acts upon the creative intelligence and imagination from within. Hypnosis has been used for literally thousands of years and is starting once again to be recognized not only by science but by massive numbers of people throughout the world for its powerful, life changing abilities.

Temperature of our bodies is amazingly steady despite significant variation in environmental temperature. The thermo regulatory center is in our brain at hypothalamus, which act like a thermostat with a set point at normal body temperature. This is done by balancing heat production (by metabolic activity in liver and muscle) with heat loss through a skin and lung.

Fever occurs when the thermostat set point is raised above the current body temperature. When the body is exposed to infection organisms such as viruses or bacteria a number of so called pyrogens are produced as part of inflammatory response. These pyrogens can then act on the thermostat to raise the temperature set point by the release of a substance called prostaglandin. Now once the set point is raised heat generating action in the body like cellular metabolism in mostly skeletal muscle come into play to raise the temperature to the new set point.

Fever is one of the most common reasons that parents seek medical attention for their children. Parental concern usually arises because of the belief that fever is a disease rather than a symptom of an illness. This misconception and unrealistic concerns about the fever which ranges from thinking about the brain damage, losing their children, and the disease causing the fever is a potentially dangerous one rather than relatively benign one are termed fever phobia.

This parental fever phobia which exists across socio economic classes is strongly reinforced sometimes by the action of pediatric medical professionals, who are widely considered to be the primary resource of the subject. It is even emphasized as a discharge instruction, from emergency department and inpatient facilities as a warning to parents to call or return if fever develops or persists. So there is incongruence between the education of the family and the practice of the pediatrician. This mixed message which remains in existence does cause parents to lose sleep and experience unnecessary stress due to unwarranted concern about the harmful side effect of the fever.
