Yea, I agree these text chat services are a bit difficult for many but
I fear voice will be like herding cats ;-) I'll check out your
conference service and compare with a Skypecast. We'll try the voice
thing next time... have a great holiday and I'm looking forward to
speaking with you next week.
I think text based could work if we use something thats a little more
real-time (i.e. less lag) and where the moderator can actually
moderate.
The other good part of text based is that you can go back and look at
the transcript.
Maybe Campfire (which is a paid service) would be a little better. Its
worth looking into but I would hate for folks to stop participating
because the medium sucks.
Maybe we should take a small group and test out a couple meeting places
before the next meeting? I'll be a volunteer for that...

I've been meaning to check out Campfire for WineQ's own purposes for
a few weeks now, so I've taken the opportunity to set up an
account. This is a paid account that, for now, can accommodate up to
25 simultaneous chatters -- which should be adequate for purposes of
these Wine 2.0 discussions.
I've created a Wine 2.0 room on our account, which you can find here:
https://wineq.campfirenow.com/room/63715
Guest access to this room is on, which means any of you can access it
without a password. Feel free to play around and let me know what you think.

I didn't realize it had created a different hash for public use.

I tend to agree with Joel that a text discussion would be preferable,
if only because it's so much easier to keep records.

I have set up a dedicated room for these chats, available at the
(second) link that I sent to the list last night. (I also sent you a
personal invitation, but that was before I had set up the dedicated room.)
Here is the correct link:
https://wineq.campfirenow.com/b12e3
This should let you, and anyone else, straight into the Wine 2.0 room.
