I underwent a Laparoscopic Radical Prostatectomy and Cystoscopy on the 18th February 2008 after being diagnosed with Prostate cancer. I was admitted to the
Thames Valley Nuffield on the Monday morning and discharged 4 days later on Thursday evening.
I suffered no pain throughout my stay in hospital or afterwards. The only minor discomfort was having a catheter inserted, which disappeared on removal 2 weeks later.
There were some minor bladder leaks for couple of weeks, but this problem soon cleared with the aid of pelvic floor exercises
After resting for 5 days, I was able to walk 9 holes on the golf course with my pals. Two days later I played my first 18 holes with the aid of a buggy, after surgery. I played 4 rounds of golf in the following week with the aid of a buggy, since then I have played 4/5 times a week and always walked the course (7000yards per round).
I am convinced the greatest aid to my swift recovery was 1) The skill of my surgeon and his team. 2) Having a positive attitude and a determination to carry on with life

Frank Bennett.
