New Delhi (TCN Staff Reporter): A large number of students and social and political activists held a march toward the Egyptian Embassy in New Delhi today showing their solidarity with the Egyptian people who are demanding end to the 30-year dictatorship of President Hosni Mubarak. The marchers demanded end of emergency in Egypt and ouster of Mubarak.
Egypt Solidarity Forum joined Students Federation of India’s call of March to Egyptian Embassy in New Delhi in solidarity with Egyptian people. The march was attended by large number of students and political activists. Comrade Subhashni Ali, SFI Delhi president Roshan Kishor, activist Albeena Shakeel and Egypt Solidarity Forum convener Omair Anas were leading the march. They also addressed the gathering.

Addressing the protestors Omair Anas said that Indian government had given Nehru Award to Hosni Mubarak in 2008 for his peace efforts. “This proves how much Indian government is aware of Hosni Mubarak and his unpopularity among his own people. This has forced Indian government not to support Egyptian people's struggle for freedom and democracy,” he said.
Talking to TwoCircles.net, Omair Anas said the marchers demanded End of emergency, Resignation of Mubarak, Dissolution of parliament and implementation of the Casablanca Call for political reform.

While on way to the Egyptian embassy, the marchers were stopped by police. However, they broke all the barricades and assembled at the gate number one of the Egyptian embassy where they held a public meeting. Anti-Mubarak slogans were given as memorandum to the Egyptian high office in Delhi.
Meanwhile, Egypt Solidarity Forum has issued an online petition for solidarity with Egyptian people's struggle and support for the Casablanca Call for Political Reform.
