IE Problem

The IE was always crashing on my XP machine for some time. The version
was very old (IE6) Updates had failed to solve the issue. Just now I
installed Google's customised IE downloaded from some Google site. It
crashes after every few minutes. The error message is like this:
Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close.
If I view details it reads thus:
AppName:iexplore.exe AppVer:8.0.6001.18702 ModName:iehelp.dll ModVer:
0.0.0.0 Offset:000106cc
I can't find a file named iehelp.dll in my system. Could that be the
problem?
