The other night I was deleting Visual Studio from my computer, which
runs XP Home edition. I saw some Visual C++ updates and assumed that
those were for VIsal Studio or MS SQL. So I removed one. Now I
cannot start any MS Ofccie program. When I try, including running the
Office Restore utility, I get error 1402 : Setup cannot access the
registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft
Windows\currentversion'RunOptionalComponents
\MAIL is not accessible and I should check that I have permission to
access it. My user account has administrator privileges but just to be
sure, I went thorugh the Regedit process to grant myself more
permissions, incluiidng "full control". That did not help.
Any suggestions on what to do? Thanks.
