Dual View (or) expand into separate monitor

I've a dell Optiplex 745 running windows XP Professional. After a
reinstall
dualview no longer works. ie Proprties => Display Properties =>
Settings
no longer shows more than one monitor, even though two are
connected. )

In the reinstall nothing except the operating system (plus Dell
driver
downloaded) was changed. ie no monitors, no cables, no adaptors,
nothing was
changed except the OS (renistalled) So I would expect the monitors to
work
in extended display or dual mode. They just dont!

Anyone seen this before? How did you fix it?
