I typically run extended desktop with multiple documents open at the
same time.

It is difficult to know where I will be typing next and on which
document

I have activated "show location of pointer when I press the Ctrl key"
but that locates my current mouse cursor location. Is there a similar
function to locate not my mouse cursor but the location of my blinking
cursor? That is, where will the next text be entered when I start
typing?

Thanks

Hi, you can change the size, blinking rate of "insertion point" (that typing cursor). Forgot how i did it. I think its also in Mouse properties. I tried it that way for some days, but cud become quite distracting at times. Changing active window title bar into a more catchy colour wud also help. the settings could be accessed in destop> properties>  appearance > advanced.

When I lose my insertion point cursor I use the arrow keys to move it
back and forth, and look for movement. Come to think of it, I could
hold the Shift key down and move the cursor several spaces back and
forth to create a contrasting color block that changes size and
direction.
