Hi,

I have the Foundation edition of Windows Server 2008 R2 (SP1)
installed on a HP Proliant ML110 G6. This server is basically acting
both as a DNS server and as a web development server within an office.

I have set up DNS (bound to NIC 1) with both forward and reverse zones
and I can access web pages served on the server (actually running
Apache bound to NIC 2), both from the server itself, and also from
clients connected to the server - so I know resolution is working.

The problem is that on some occasions resolution fails for sites
hosted on the server even though no changes have been made to the
server (I can ping successfully from the server but not from any
clients). I tried disabling the firewall, and then resolution was
again possible. However, I do not want to disable the firewall for
this server to work and I was wondering if anyone else has had this or
a similar issue, or knows how to resolve this issue?
