Hello,

I got confirmation from my employee that will be at RailsConf.

Also, I'm about to send my proposal for presentation for the event, so
we have 'presence'.

So, knowing that, wanted to approach you guys for hints on what you
think will make a great presentation.

Over the past year I did a few RubyInstaller presentations showing how
things aren't that different on Windows and that the right way to
approach the Windows community is not by force and how community needs
to act different.

Of course, some people pay attention, others didn't care.

Anyhow, as I mentioned before, I think will be a good opportunity to
talk about "How to bring OpenSource into your company, step by step"

Anyone interested in turn the presentation into something else? Ideas
and suggestions? Q&A session instead?

Any response will be highly appreciated.

Cheers!

I would wholeheartedly appreciate a talk centred around Windows Ruby. If a Windows user came to RailsConf would they get some knowledge or inspiration? If a gem author came to your talk would they start including Windows builds? Or at least versions of the gems that work on Windows 1.8 and 1.9?

Cheers

I like that. Ruby and Windows. There are lot of tools to automate GUI
testing and how to use Cucumber even when you're not using Rails :)

I can show to them that is not hard, just a matter of use the tools. I
can pick some examples and show how easy was to add Windows binaries
to their gems.

rake-compiler, 2 lines of code, some tea (while you wait for Ruby to
cross compile) and you're done ;-)

I would prefer center the talk around Ruby and not Rails, I know is
RailsConf, but...

More suggestions are welcome!
