One of our board members provided this reference:

BUT - much to my utter amazement  he has not yet figured out that the problem is not the reflective power of the window, but the fact that it is NOT FLAT. It is a magnifying glass. Why else would the rest of the windows not be causing the problem. Get a gadget to measure the FLATNESS. Costs a few hundred bucks - probably costs $20 to make. It measures the gap between the panes. Measure at the edge - where the glass is fixed in the frame. And then measure it at the center. If one of the panes is collapsed - it will be SMALLER, and you have a magnifying glass!  Get this air space measurement tool:  https://www.edtm.com/index.php/field-service-glass-thickness
I got the $300 one - it works fine.

Stay safe.

Carl,

He is well aware of the concave shape and talks about the focused beam of heat that the windows project in all of his work.  Just because he doesn't word it the same way you do, doesn't mean that the science is any different.

Additionally, not everyone can get access to their neighbors windows to use that device.  For me it's totally useless advice.
