Mom's Dad'd, Friends surf buddies, Soccer mom's & dad's etc etc.
I believe all of you know of my involvement with our cause for the children in Honduras called "Just Because We Care"
They had a bad earth quake earlier this year and problems with their government. Hardly anybody is working because of the government problems.
The US is withholding all financial help, and their staple food (Beans and Rice) are harder to come by day by day.
We have been able to feed our kids because of your generosity in the past. We were able to buy as much beans and rice as we could and store them.
Alot of you have given me stuff to take or ship to Honduras in the past and it is very much appreciated. These clothes and shoes etc were then taken by handbagage so we were limited by size.
Well we are going to do something different at the moment and I need your help.
We are going to be shipping a container. (Kind that sits on a tractor trailer) 40' long 8'w and 9'tall = huge!!!
We are doing it so we can ship larger items to them like school furniture, bikes large amount of clothes etc.
So here is the challenge I give you.
Bring me, or I will come pick it up the following items.
-Summer clothes (they have no cold weather ie no sweaters etc.) All ages.
-kids
-adult
-socks, they really can use alot of these.
-t-shirts, old sports shirts, ie soccer shirts and shorts
-pants. from slacks to shorts
-Shoes. All sizes. (good walking shoes as they walk up and down the mountain) No women type slippers etc.
-Boots
-soccer shoes
-Tennnis shoes
-Work boots
-Hunting boots
-etc
-Toys. We all have kids who have toys they outgrew or no longer play with.
-Games, board games etc.
-Childrens Books. English, but also Spanish lesson books.
-Bicycles from kids sizes to adults, preferably mountain bikes with gears, but we can take some trikes for the little guys too.
-OK if it needs tires, or a repair. We can take care of that.
-Kitchen Utensils, pans, pots, glasses, forks, etc
-Tupperware or any storage containers
-Large plastic storage boxes w/ lids
-Fold up tables on chairs. Card tables etc.
-Plastic yard furniture, chairs and tables
-Old computer screens. (Please call me before dropping these off)
LED lighting. or any type of flash lights. The LED lights last a long time and use very little energy.
They have no electricity on the mountain so we can not use anything that plugs in. We do have a generator for the school to run their computers on.
You will be helping these kids so much, I cannot describe it to you. It is hard to imagine when I tell you they have nothing.
Two years ago we built a house for a family who lived in a 10x10 shack and on the floor. When we gave them the house one of the younger daughters jumped on her new bed and smiled so big. When I gave her a pillow to put her head on she had no idea what to do with it. She never had a pillow.
This year we are building a house for a family who now resides in an old pigsty. It has dirt floors, wood walls. The husband works very hard on a plantation and when possible he has helped us with all the other projects. They live higher up the mountain. He rides his bike up and down every day and we never knew how far. So last year I told him to throw his bike in the back of our rented 4w drive pick-up and we just kept going up and up and higher. When we got there he explained it takes him and his kids 3 hours to walk down the mountain and at least 4 to get home. These kids 4 years and up walk this everyday rain or shine, and rain it does plenty during the rainy season. So we were able to do some trading and got a piece of land much closer to school foe the kids.
I sure hope you will look around the house and look through all your old clothes, maybe that bike you have hanging up somewhere but never gets used.
Please visit our web-site and look around! You can even donate money, anything is much appreciated. It is secure and easy through paypal and tax deductable!!
I thank you very very much from the bottom of our hearts for anything and everything.
I will be more than glad to come pick it up if needed just give me a call.
