Is it that difficult to prevent them? At least it cannot be that
difficult to erase them. In spite of that they keep coming and then
they remain there. It makes me wonder whether one of us is behind at
least part of what's going on. I'm not a victorian prude but I
imagine there's nothing good behind the links and writing or reading
around them makes me feel in some way like trying to walk around a
park where people take their dogs and don't pick up after them. I can
do it once or twice but it's unconfortable and end up not coming back.

I'm not an expert, and not sure how spam messages work, but I'm guessing there is some service out there that looks for "Google Groups" to spam with these messages.  I believe the last time this happened Ralph took care of it.  Or is it something one of us can do?  Rich, you're Mr. IT, anything you can do?

Ralph has to take care of it.

All,

I am looking at buying a 1000 ft nylon spool of rope for windsurfing from a rope and rigging company locally.  Obviously, I don't have THAT many rigs to use all of it, but will use a few hundred of it.  Does anybody else need some?  I will be buying it because I can get it for $103 and if nothing else sell 25ft section on E-Bay to cover my costs.

Hi All,

To ensure easy access to the forums, there is no sign-up sheet, nor
any verification prior to joining, all we need is a valid e-mail
address and you are in - unless Google has your e-mail address
blacklisted.

No one wants to fill out forms, etc, so we do not have any upfront
steps to joining, nor posting.

But it is getting out of hand, so I have now added a step whereby I
have to authorize all new member requests before they can post.
Hopefully it is not too big a roadblock for real users, but enough to
turn off potential spammers. I'll monitor it and see how it goes.

NOTE: Any member can flag a message as SPAM, and doing so would help
everyone. Just go to the Discussions page on the group website (http://
groups.google.com/group/windfunstl/), and beside every post is a link
to: "report message as spam".

So if there is spam, please click that link - couldn't be easier!

Thanks everyone for your patience and for caring,
Cheers,
Ralph Out.

Ralph,

Thanks for the modifications made to the process, thanks for the
additional information about how to report spam and most of all,
thanks for continuing to monitor and moderate this site! It's fun
when it's not littered and we all appreciate it.
Hope you're doing well; here the wind has just come back!
