It's important that as many homeowners as possible attend the in person only Board meeting tonight at the clubhouse, and hear the discussion first hand.  The all volunteer Board are also neighbors and homeowners and they want to do what is best for the community.  I can't attend in person only meeting tonight, but was also at the meeting last week specifically about the insurance/hail claim topic.  The strategy has not been decided upon yet.  We have time to research the facts in the matter and make the best choices possible.

In the interim, it will be good for each homeowner to call their insurance company and find out, if you have an "H06 rider"?  Hopefully yes, and how much is the maximum limit per occurrence? ($10K? $50K?)

Thank you for the update. I appreciate that. I did see that just a couple community members were able to make that meeting, but I think the community at large needs to understand what is happening ...more

Thanks to all for the information. Michelle - very eloquent contribution - thank you.

For those that are newer to Windemere you may not know that there were two hail events that were handled in the past. One where repairs were made to only those roofs that required a repair. Those were the original roofs installed by the builder which were cheap materials so damage was there on on some, not all the roofs and the hail was significantly larger than pea sized hail. I would need to research, but I believe there was little if any damage to windows, trim, siding, etc.

Then there was a large hail event that impacted all the roofs and all were replaced, along with windows, trim, siding, etc. Many cars were damaged significantly and it was very clear that the second hail event required a different course of action. With that, though, the new roof was upgraded to a better shingle that is supposed to be more hail resistant and it  should hold up with little damage and may not need repairs. Again, I suggest an independent assessment of the roofs as roofers have a vested interest in making money from hail storms.
Respectfully,
Pam V.

Why is the meeting in person only?  Seems strange.  What time does the meeting start?

Thank you, Mike
