Maybe once every two or three times whenever I load a save file it freezes on the load screen. The only way I've found to get out of it is to ctrl+alt+del and sign out of Windows. I can load the save by starting a new game and then loading the save file, but is there a permanent fix to this?
With the Corona-19 virus curbing my outdoor activities I decided to have another go at playing Fallout: New Vegas on PC. For this play through I bought the game anew from GOG.com. GOG has done an excellent job of fixing most of the bugs, crashes and other problems that continue to plague the version of the game available from Steam. One intermittent problem that remains, however, is an an infinite loading screen. When this happens the actual game will not launch and game play cannot continue. Very annoying.
Hello, I am having some troubles getting TTW to work with my mod list. I am getting frequent crashing or freezing during loading screens in megaton. It seems to work with only TTW installed so it is probably some incompatibilities with some of my mods or my load order.
I have the latest versions of NVSE, NVAC, NVSR and JIP LN installed. No Fallout 3 mods installed. However after I followed the performance thread I also have the loading screen crash/freeze on TTW without any additional mods active. Also if I try to load a save right outside vault 101 which previously worked fine as far as I know, now plays the new vegas intro before crashing or freezing.
I trimmed down my load order a little and checked my ini files. Editing my ini files through MO helped quite a bit, I managed to get through 8-9 loading screens without any problems, however the last one ended up with a black screen with audio in the background.
Hi all,
So I have an issue with TTW, it keeps constantly crashing on me at completely random times. Sometimes 15 mins after loading, sometimes an hour but it always crashes. Sometimes it will freeze on the pinwheel of death (loading screen), sometimes it will say "FalloutNV has stopped working", sometimes it will just freeze and I have to sign out and log back in to my account on my PC in order to close the game. After installing game fixes, patches and the 4gb enabler, I have no idea what to do and would like some advice. Yes, I know TTW is sort of frowned upon on this site but I really want to play this game.
Here is my load order in case it's that.....
I would also like to add that I have uninstalled many of my mods in case of conflicts, but it still crashes.
This fix works on PC, Xbox One, and Xbox 360. Following the instructions in the video and shutting off your autosaves will solve the problem, but it will happen again when the game autosaves even when you turn them off (Leaving Caesar's tent does this for example) but just delete the new autosave before the next loading screen and you'll be fine. =xwdsH9B1um4&t=1s184.64.52.183 07:05, January 24, 2017 (UTC)
Another thing that apparently causes the infinite loading screen is saving while being inside the textures, for instance when using 'tcl' console command. You will have to start a new game (as explained by NinjaPeanut above), load the problematic save, and arrange to return to a normal placement for your character. Saving and then exiting the game worked for me. Gaeryus
For what it's worth, the 'forever' loading screens and the lag after fast travel/going from one game world to another seems to be directly related to the size of your currently saved game. For example, you can have all DLCs installed and have accomplished almost everything in the game and your save file could be around 12 to 14 Mbs. However when you start a new game, your saved game will be extremely lower than this, like around 900 Kbs. This is probably why in a new game you can play for awhile without any issues (except known bugs, like Nash not leave the Casino in Primm after you re-establish law there). Because of all the issues with this game, it might be wise to complete only 2 of the DLCs per playthrough to help keep the file size down. Again for what it's worth, hope this is helpful. --Kid Ego 22:17, October 3, 2011 (UTC)
I've been having some trouble lately with periodic infinite loading screens (ILS). These don't always occur on a specific cell loading/fast travel point, rather it tends to happen when I've clocked in some time on a current play session and already have loaded a number of interior/exterior cells successfully. These occurrences were rare at the start of my playthrough, but they became more prevalent as I played some more.
Old-ish thread but I'd like to say I've been running into this issue again, even upon starting a new save. It didn't start right away though, only when I clocked in a bunch of hours and my character was Level 10. Happened twice while I was fast travelling already. A quick note though- the background ambience and music still seems to play in this ILS state, with the loading screen pointers still cycling through normally.
I also am having occasional infinite loading screens. There doesn't seem to be any ryme or reason or common denominator other then playing for a time. It takes a while of playing normally, though I just had one that was rather earlier then the usual. 1/2 an hour as opposed to the normal, of over 2 hours of play. Only a level 5 character. I also don't believe it is texture/mesh related. I have a fairly heavily modded game, probably around 350 or more esps merged to 215 there-abouts I also am running dyndolod. I find it happens mostly on cell changes though not always. The not always ones are fairly rare though. I will expand my load order and post it here in a spoiler tag in case someone is working on this and it is helpful. I just thought I would contribute to the conversation. Well I guess the count is actually 436 esps. If there does seem to be some weirdness to the load order such as a patch being above it's master, that is probably an expanded merge. I couldn't order the merges after expanding them without a crapload of extra work, but I did put them just above the merged esp in the load order.
Is it necessary for a game developer (on Android, game consoles, online, or desktop) to display the loading screen to cover unfinished rendered game environments and prevent users from thinking that this game is either lagging or freezing ?
Or, if displaying loading screen is a general standard required for each published game, was it okay to "cheat" by displaying a fake loading screen with any certain length of time even though the game renders smoothly? I would like to know why game developers added the loading screen during when the gameplay is started.
Was it necessary for a game developer (in Android, game consoles, online, or in desktop) to display the loading screen to cover unfinished rendered game environment and to prevent from other users thinking that this game is either lagging or freeze.
Yes, loading screens are used to hide resource loading and it's somehow a more entertaining way to tell the player to wait. Otherwise the player will have terrible impression on the game, if I showed him an unfinished scene. I can recall that many reviews always mention when levels aren't completely loaded; be it textures or 3D objects, not only it will have bad impact on the gamers impression it will usually affect the critic reviews (which may or may not be important).
Some games like Beyond Two Souls innovate in their loading screens, so loading screens might add artistic value to the game and might even let you connect with the characters . Others give you tips and tricks.
To be honest I don't see them going anytime soon, I always see loading screens more than a polite way to tell the player to wait, sometimes it adds to the artistic value of the game, but I am sure things will get better and you will see less of them, especially if SSD dominated the market.
When you open the launcher, it functions as it should with the music in the background. Also have audio by the time the main menu loads. Whenever you load a game, the loading screen with the roulette wheel has no audio and this screen will freeze for one to two seconds (as evidenced by the ball in the roulette wheel stopping). Screen will then go black for a few seconds, and the game will load, but have no audio at this point and there is severe lag.
The ambient music is choppy in both vanilla and modded games. This doesn't happen to the radio music during normal gameplay, but does during loading screens or transitioning between tracks (i.e. going from ambient "explore" music to "combat", or entering new locations with different music).
ENBoost is a stand-alone component called "enbhost.exe"; considered a memory and optimization "patch" to the ENB Series graphics effects process for the specific game with it's own version numbers. It is not involved with nor require the post-processing, so it does not impose the FPS loss that the ENBSeries is known for. Therefore, it is recommended for all users. See the S.T.E.P. Project ENBoost Quickstart Instructions on how to install and configure for only this feature. If you have installed ENB correctly you should see on the loading screens (in the upper left corner) something similar to:
.
Note the "available texture memory" line at the bottom. This should not be increased over the size reported before installing ENBoost by the VRamSizeTest tool available from the ENB download site.
Then there has been minor freezes and glitches to like wont come out of loading screen when going through doors, having a hacking computer screen pop up when i try to lockpick or shoot through scope, randomly have no character model load so its just a floating gun walking around, and many other little things that the only way to fix them is to turn my xbox off then back on. Really Frustrating
