LCA paper based on data from WE collaborative and WE member projects

Hi everyone,

I share a conference paper that we wrote with Kostas Latoufis and other colleagues, on the life cycle environmental impacts of locally manufactured small wind turbines and pico-hydro plants.

For the small wind turbine case study, data are taken from the 2015 collaborative project in Ethiopia, that was carried out by Wind Empowerment and WE members, V3 power, Nea Guinea, , I-Love-WindpowerT-anzania and Mercy Corps Ethiopia.

The pico-hydro plant case study is based on data from the 2013 project in Greece by WE member RurErg.

The environmental impacts of the locally manufactured solutions are assessed and compared with impacts from a small petrol generator. Variations in wind resource and in maintenance requirements are also considered.
