Hi all,

It's almost course run day! Sadly, it looks like we aren't going to have great weather again this year, but we are still going to run on Saturday. We are still going to run on Saturday to avoid the logistics (and runners/drivers not being able to make it) of changing to Sunday. Here's who I have for runners/drivers:

Just running:
Maddy C
Tom B.
Carrie
Gary
Huseyin
Josh
Lyn (maybe)

Running/driving (hoping you all can figure out pairing up as needed so people can do any running they want):
Tracy - running some (car 1)
Grant - running some
Tara - 5-7 miles (car 2)
Nedim - 8 miles
Tom M - 15 miles
Jay - (car 3)

Below are instructions for runners and drivers.

* All: Meet at the Winchester Town Common parking lot by 5:50am on
Saturday.  We will organize ourselves, and leave for the
course run at 6am sharp.

* Runners:
Bring your own liquid and solid nutrients.  Bring warm clothes for the
ride to the start and for the finish. Please put all of your stuff in a bag in case it needs to be moved between cars.

==============================================

Job of the Much-Appreciated Course Run Drivers:

* Drive as many people as you can fit to the start in Ashland.  It is
good to anticipate the rough order of finish, and have a lead car with
the stuff for the lead runners, etc.

* Go out the Pike to 495, then south on 495.  Exit on W. Main to
Hopkinton.  Stop at the marathon starting line and get excited to see it on race day.  Then get back in the cars and go to the Dunkin Donuts about 3+ miles down the hills, and on the left.  Bio break.

* Go to the old Nursery on the left just past mile 4.  This is where we
start and take the yearly group photo.

* 1st stop - Rt 135 (W. Central St) Parking lot on left, in narrows
between two bodies of water -- across from Fiske Pond on right and some
other body of water on left, -- about 5 miles from start, just past
Marathon mile 9.

* 2nd stop - Rt 16 (Washington St) Wellesley, parking lot near tennis
courts in midst of large park (baseball diamonds, soccer fields) on
right - about 10 miles from start, just past Marathon mile 14.

* 3rd stop - Rt 30 (Commonwealth Ave) early Heartbreak Hill, Newton.
There is a side road on left, so find a place to park there - about
15-16  miles from the start (near Marathon mile 19) .. look carefully
for runners and flag them down.

* 4th stop - if possible - (Beacon St) Stop on right side of the road
around mile 20. (near Marathon mile 24).  If you can't do this, head to
the end.

* Meet at the Marathon finish line very near the Library and Copley
Plaza. It is really important to have a car at the finish before the
first runners get there, to give them clothing, food, etc.  There's a Starbucks right by the finish where we can wait for everyone to finish.

* Drive people home.

When drivers get to each stop, you just need to have the back of the
car/van open, and people will come and get their own stuff from their
bags.  They will stop for a few seconds or minutes to eat, drink, chat,
drop or pickup clothes, rest.  Then they will run again.  You don't need
to hand anything out.

Once everyone from your car has come by, you can get to the next stop,
before the first of your group gets there.  Again, this is only a
challenge for the last couple of stops, and especially the last stop.

Thanks Carrie.  Any chance there are actual addresses or pins on the stops.  I haven’t had to use written directions in a very long time :).

Here are some addresses to use:

Stop 1: Veteran of Foreign Affairs, 113 W. Central St. Natick
Stop 2: Hunnewell Tennis Courts
Stop 3: near 603 Commonwealth Ave, Newton (doesn't have to be exact and stop on the carriage road)
Stop 4: around 1353 Beacon Street, Brooklie/Coolidge Corner area (if you can find a place to pull over - usually runners check in with drivers at stop 3 to see if they are good going to the end or could use the stop 4 which is sometimes hard for parking)
Final meeting spot - Starbucks located at 755 Boylston Street.

Great Jess... looking forward to seeing you there!

I asked Carrie if I could take the lead runners as I need to try to get back around noon.

Tom or Nedim - Would one of you be able to come in the car with me (I have a minivan that fits 7 comfortably) so that I can run one of the 4 legs (doesn't matter to me which one) and you could also do some running too?

TY!

If it works, I would love to put in a leg or two on my feet. If not, I’ll drive the whole way!

Lyn is not able to make it…

I am totally flexible; if I can run a few miles or more - as long as I get to run when it is not raining - ha ha ha; kidding...
I am not returning to Winchester after the run- I will stay in Boston.

I can go In whatever car is most helpful. And I am happy to drive some too as needed. My preference is be to run the first three legs (15 miles total or as much of that as I can) and then either ride (or drive) the final 7 miles. But I am flexible if I need to adjust that plan.

Hi Tom,

That would work great for me as I want to do 7 (and am fine with the last 7).  Why don't you come in my car?

TY!

I'm getting curious on the cut-off for the "lead runners" group, but am fine with talking pacing in the morning.

Hi All,

My daughter, Tara, has been trying to get a bib number for the NYC Marathon but has had no luck.  If anyone hears of any possible options, could you please let me know?

Thank you!!

My daughter lives in NYC and she is doing 9+1 program w NYRR. Run 9 races, volunteer in one, and get the MYC marathon entry.

That is a such a great way to get a bib. My daughter will have to try for next year through NYRR. Thank you!

Good luck to all the runners on Monday.  What are the bib numbers of those in the race?  We’ll be cheering.
