Hi Highlanders!
It was a fantastic day out on the Boston Marathon course today! We had many stellar Highlander finishers even in the oppressive heat and scorching sun. Here's what I've got. Runners, please reply with any stats I missed, as well as highlights, stories, photos, and all that. I snapped this one of Jay at mile 10 in Natick. Carrie zoomed by so fast I couldn't get a photo (though I tried)!

Carrie Boland 3:34:38
Jay Doubman 3:40:02
Cristina Doherty 5:05:26
Huseyin Uzunalioglu 3:34:40
Kathryn Zioto 2:58:20
Chris Antunes 3:06:50
Ken Thayer 2:50:39
Matt Coble 3:51:58
Kate Coble 3:35:39
Abby Taylor 4:03:21
Tara Hadsell 4:15:49

Fantastic race, everyone! Looking forward to celebrating on April 28. See you out there, but for now, rest and recover well!
Jess

Thank you, Highlanders! What a sweet and sweaty day!

Jess, I heard you yell but didn't see you until you had already turned around. Unfortunately, I didn't qualify and so I don't have the chance to try and see you next year but I appreciated it nonetheless. It was great to see Jay on the bus again - maybe I'll get my butt out of bed and we can meet again under less duress. My favorite part of the race was when Carrie, who ran a much smarter race and training session, went flying by me at mile 24. I loved seeing her finishing strong as I slowly melted more and more into the pavement. Thanks for waiting at the finish for me so I didn't have to waddle alone to the T stop.

Congrats to all the Highlanders who ran! Great run crew representation this year!

Thanks for the cheers!
Kate

Great run Kate. Excellent time even if you didn’t qualify!

How’s Matt doing? Looks like he had a tough day. Did you pass him ?

Matt has a cold he's been fighting and the heat + a less than great training session meant he shut it down super early. He was the course hype man. He did a lot of chatting with friends, dancing, and even had a beer. But no, I came about 5 minutes shy of catching him before the end. He was waiting with Carrie for me to finish. This was more of a long parade for him and less of a race. So he's feeling fine today, the repercussions of which is that he's pulled a lot of manual childcare duty this week. :)

Kate you and Carrie could always do https://www.runvermont.org/vermont-city-marathon-relay/

Got a month and it will be hopefully cooler :D (but they have had some hot ones too)

I confirmed (again) that I don’t do well in the heat and much prefer the cold, rainy weather of last year. This was a tough one.

By mile 10, I was already overheating so knew I needed to dial it back and was not pumped about running 16 more miles. Luckily, I saw lots of familiar faces along the course and appreciated the cheering. Jess and Tom even did a little running along the course to cheer for longer.

Saw Kate at mile 24 and tried to pass on some, if we run faster this is over faster, energy to her. I was ready to see that finish line. It was good to see Matt waiting when I crossed and Kate was shortly behind me. It was nice to have company as we wobbled our way to the train together.

That one stung a bit after putting in more training than I’ve been able to in a while, but I still haven’t figured out how to control the weather so there was no going faster Monday.

Now I’m eyeing a fall marathon where hopefully it’s cooler if anyone wants to join me in training.
