SonyVegas is amazing. Neat video was something I was looking at, but I'm not sure if I'm ready to drop $99 for a denoise plugin. Can anyone please recommend some other plugins that are usually found to be useful?

The important thing really is for you to decide what plugins you need for your work - there's not much point in purchasing a plugin which other people like but which, in the end, you wouldn't use or need for your projects.

I use Neat Video plugin de-noiser and love it. It works very well. -- Also iZotope RX Plugin Pack (De-click, Dialogue De-noise, De-hum, and De-clip) works great too. PluralEyes too. I use Mercalli V4 plugin but it has some problems with Vegas .. as does NewBlue FX ..

Plural Eyes is a great time saver for multi-cam videos or if you sync chopped video w/ an audio track. You can find Plural Eyes bundled w/ microphone packages like RODE or it goes on sale once a year or so.

Depending on your desire to really exploit the capabilities of Vegas and achieve high quality results, imho Boris BCC 10 is the most capable and extensive set of plugin additions to Vegas. You can nickel and dime your way there or just go all in.

that said, most of my work is, and has been short form doco, and until a few years ago, corporate. i found a great many of packages verging on the tacky / tasteless side, and nearly all my titling is done in either ps or with vegas's simple legacy generator. of course if you're into fx, compositing and the like then you might well gain some benefit from one or more of the available packages - but bcc10 is most certainly one of the most comprehensive, flexible and creative plugins i've found, and for practical housekeeping purposes nothing beats excalibur.

You can get Boris (not sure what version) free by purchasing Corel videostudio ultimate version, they just released a new version x10. On top of that, this gives you as an advantage an extra NLE to play with ?

What do you mean with much faster? The render time or video preview? The newblue autocontrast does not strike me particular as slow, at least I do not perceive it slowing down anything with putting it on almost every clip.
