Also try to scan your drive for any possible viruses since you told you were adding images to the drive.
One quick try would be to go to command line and type <driveletter>: where driveletter is something you see against the drive when you open the My Computer. By typing this, you might be able to see what contents are in that drive.
Post back with your observations.
