Hello,
I am interested in trying to get a Build of ROS for Windows which works in Windows 8.1 using Visual Studio 2013. This is mainly because I am going to use a Kinect 2 sensor, which only works on Windows 8 and Visual Studio 2012 and above. I have tried using the 2010 binaries, which work correctly in Windows 8, but when compiling with the 2013 compiler there are errors at runtime with the roscpp library.

I have not much knowledge in this issues, so I wonder if there is someone here who could be interested in making this build and could help me to achieve it. In https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/win-ros/ukUMLdDzHuQ there is a mail conversation between me and Daniel Stonier with some information he gave me about this.

Thank you!

Hi,

I'm actually quite interested in achieving this as well for the exact same reasons: Kinect 2 sensor on a Windows machine and connect that to a Linux machine running ROSCORE.

I'm a bit new in Windows development (haven't developed in Windows since Windows 98 SE). But if there's anything that Daniel Stonier or you would like me to test/code/develop, I'm up for it.

Cheers,

Caleb

Hi guys,
i've compiled win_ros with MSVC2013 and posted the instructions on how to do it here:
http://answers.ros.org/question/196227/compiling-win_ros-hydro-on-windows7-64bit-with-vs2013-x64/

let me know if it works for you.

Hi Eugene,

Nice work. For more eyeballs, you might like to link back to that from somewhere on the ros wiki windows installation pages.

Thanks for the suggestion. Done. Btw, is there a good place to put the binaries that i compiled? They are about 45MB when zipped.

I can host them at yujinrobot where the other win-ros binaries are located if you wish. I'm off for a holiday for a week from erm, today. I'll get back in touch with you privately then with regards to uploading details.

Dear Eugene,
Do you still have the binaries somewhere? Thanks.
