Hi Chris,

For groovy update we've only done testing on Win7-64 so far. I used to use WinXP for electric-fuerte prototyping.

They updated ros_comm for ipv6, so you're probably seeing an artifact of that change. That is the only thing that went into ros_comm over the last two ros distros so if that is fixed, there shouldn't be anything else to prevent it from running on winxp.

I currently don't have much time right now (busily preparing for ICRA and RosCon) as well as another project deadline looming, but if you manage to work it out, I'll check it over and make sure it gets patched upstream for you.

Cheers,
Daniel.

Hello Mr Stonier,

i am trying to install winros with this guide http://www.ros.org/wiki/win_ros/groovy/Msvc%20Compiled%20SDK you have written. Can you tell me on what Windows OS you have compiled and installed winros?

Currently i have Windows XP running on a virtual machine in Windows 7. The Compilation is finishing fine but when i start the roscore like
call C:\work\ws\devel\setup.bat
roscore
i get an error from rosout.exe: "The procedure entry point "inet_ntop" could not be located in WS2_32.dll"

I know that it is a problem in XP that the OS doesn't really support ipv6 and inet_ntop can convert ipv6-adresses between binary and text form. At the moment i have located the problem in ros::init() in the rosout.cpp. I know i can install it under Windows 7 but it would be great if it works unter XP as well. Have you made any experience with that problem?

Sincere regards,
