Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction course in Wilmington, NC

Free Orientation  Thursday August 23, 2012  6:30-8:30PM
8-week course    Thursdays September 6 - October 25, 2012  and a day of mindfulness Saturday October 13.

Location: McKay Healing Arts in Wilmington
Cost:  $375

Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) teaches meditation and gentle yoga to cultivate awareness and reduce stress. MBSR was developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn and is taught at locations worldwide, including Duke Integrative Medicine. MBSR was created on the foundation of the ancient practice of mindfulness, which encourages being fully present in our lives with greater peace and ease. People take an MBSR course for reasons that include stress, anxiety, depression, chronic pain, GI distress, chronic illness, fatigue, heart disease, insomnia, grief/loss, or to increase access to creativity.  It is a practice that is useful for stress reduction, a greater sense of well-being, and enhanced creativity. The course is a compliment to, not a substitute for, medical and psychological treatment.
