This Thursday, September 20, Dr. Beverley Foulks McGuire will be speaking about Right View, the first step on the Buddha’s Eight-fold path to enlightenment and to the elimination of suffering. Dr. Foulks received her Ph. D. in East Asian Languages and Civilizations in 2009. She is an Assistant Professor of Asian Religions at UNC-W and teaches several courses on Buddhism including a capstone class called American Buddhism Online which explores the intersection of religion, media, and culture by examining American Buddhism through the Internet. The HDD&P group meets at the home of Catherine Ibsen, 596 Captain Beam Blvd in Hampstead. There is a 30 minute silent sitting meditation at 6:30 followed by the lecture and discussion. Anyone interested in learning more about Buddhism is welcome. If you plan to sit with the group, please arrive by 6:20 or earlier if you need meditation instructions. The Dharma Talk will begin around 7:15.
