Good morning WCB!

For rehearsal today, we'll be going over the things in the summer folder that we did not play for the Red Men concert.  These include the following:

1812
March Grandioso
Four Cohen Songs*
Proud Heritage
The Lion King*
Bohemian Rhapsody*
You Can't Stop the Beat*
Hootenanny
1941*

Pieces with asterisks are either new this summer or were new last summer and carryovers from that spring concert.  I want to give them a read today and evaluate whether we'll be able to add them to the rotation.  Some ("The Lion King") I expect to have no issues with.  Others ("Bohemian Rhapsody") may or may not work.  Rest assured, we'll play them at some point in the future even if we don't get to them this summer.

We are scheduled to have rehearsal on 6/30, next Sunday.  Some of you may have seen that Joan Knode, the assistant mayor and the person who manages the barn, recently lost her husband.  From what I understand, he was a big part of the town museum down the hill from the barn, and a celebration of life is scheduled for 6/30 from 1-4p there..  Now, technically, this does not conflict with our rehearsal.  They're in the museum, and we're in the barn.  However, in order to make sure that there is enough parking, and in respect to him (and Joan) for all they've done for the town and for the band, we will NOT rehearse on 6/30 so that they may have the space they need to do what they need to do.  I had briefly considered trying to move to the church, but that would have been a logistical headache, and I think we'll be more than ready after today's rehearsal.

So... in summary: today we rehearse from 2-4p and will be working on the "new" stuff from the summer folder.  We do NOT rehearse next week.  Call for the 4th is 6:30, but please plan on being there a little early because the park has a tendency to fill up fast and parking can be a hassle.

See you this afternoon!

-John
