Hi Elana,

I would like to inform you that the treasurer of WSASA has died early this morning. Thinus had another anorism on the brain  which burst yesterday. Dries is currently at the hospital with Gail and their children. Thinus and Gail were founder members of the WSASA in June 2003 when we affiliated with the WSF, Kent, UK allthough WSASA was only launched offficially on November 1 2003 ( on Johan's 10 birthday which was hosted at Standard Bank Vincent Park and covered by SABC 2 News.). Through our years of battling to get any recognition for the WSASA, they were there with us, supporting us and believing in a future for our special children. The attached photo shows Thinus playing the guitar, Johan at the drums and Jeanine at the piano. We were celebrating our birthdays and wedding anniversary. Dries's birthday on April 13 and  mine on April 16. We were married on April 16 1977, just got off Noah's Ark and just in time for the ceremony! :-) . Herewith a few words from Sanet re our PROGRAM. All my emails to Sanet (Canada) get "lost" through the internet and I have to send all my emails to Sanet to 3 different email addresses in the hope that ONE will eventually reach her. She only received the PROGRAM last night (or this morning SA time).

Dries will be doing Thinus' funeral which I hope will only be on Monday as we also have to do the concert this weekend. So SAD that Thinus now miss out on the FRUITS of years of hard work!  My English is so poor, pardon for all these horrible selections of words, you are welcome to have a good laugh, so my children do all the time for MY ENGLISH.

It is so sad, Gail lost most of her eye sight over the last year and a half but still, she supports Johan and my family in many ways, cooking some nice bobotie for us and doing savouries when we have meetings. Gail's vision allows her to see only part of an object or person, still she drove to the hospital to visit Thinus.

Regards,

Magda.

Groete,

Magda.

Thank you for this news. It is so very sad to hear of this great mans passing! Please convey our sincere condolences to his family, albeit that we were not aquainted it is obvious that Thinus did great work in creating an awareness of WS in South Africa.
