hey everybody ... i cool have a project afoot, and i'm looking for folks to work on it. here's the project:
i'm co-curating the art for the treasure island music festival (
www.treasureislandfestival.com), put on by noise pop and another planet, september 20/21. as part of the festival, they're creating a lounge space for folks, using hotel furniture purchased from a furniture liquidator. it's ~20 pieces of functional, but uninteresting furniture, including armchairs, love seats, ottomans and end tables (i can provide pictures, but i'm guessing you can imagine it for now).
i'm looking for a crew to come unleash deconstructionist design techniques on it to make it interesting. the work would be done on thursday, september 18, and friday september 19, on site at treasure island. there will be a stipend of $100 available for materials, and while the design is up to the artist, i'm thinking they should be augmented with fabric, paint, ink, stencils, iron-ons, strategic cutting, ripping, etc.
we can offer comps for the festival to folks working on the project, but no more than 4, please. are you interested? if not, forward this to your friends who would be! either way, get back to me asap ... thanks!
