Hello everybody!
In the last year, I've been focusing on curating fewer hanging art galleries, and more on exhibitions of large scale sculptures at events and music festivals (Treasure Island Music Festival, Yuri's Night, Symbiosis Gathering, Wanderlust and more), so you haven't heard from me as much lately.
But I've got some great opportunities coming up in the short- and long-term to show your work, and so here we go ... let me know if you're interested in participating in any of the following:
BRAF ARTUMNAL GATHERING 2010
Next Saturday (11/20) is the Black Rock Arts Foundation Artumnal Gathering (
www.blackrockarts.org), the annual fundraising event for BRAF, taking place at the Bently Reserve in SF. I've commissioned the Flux Foundation (creators of the Temple of Flux at Burning Man 2010) to build a gorgeous custom centerpiece and bench seating, and artists Rob Buchholz (
www.robertjamessf.com) and Michael Emery will be showing their sculptures as well.
I'm looking for donations to our hanging and small-scale sculptural gallery to be sold ($50-$500 range), the proceeds from which would go directly to BRAF. BRAF will reimburse your materials costs, and you'll be given a comp ticket to the event as a show of our appreciation. If you'd like to donate a piece or more to the gallery, please let me know ASAP, as this one is coming right up.
SEA OF DREAMS NEW YEARS EVE 2010
For the 8th year in a row, I'm curating a hanging gallery and small sculpture garden for the massive Sea of Dreams New Years Eve event (
www.seaofdreamsnye.com), at the Concourse Pavilion in SF on December 31. I have spots for 50 hanging pieces, and a number of small- and medium-scale sculptures, both inside and outside. I'm especially interested in an eclectic collection of pieces from a wide variety of mediums, and especially interactive works. Site-specific installations are welcome!
EDWARDIAN BALL 2011
The Edwardian Ball (
www.edwardianball.com) is the famous "don't miss it" costume event at the SF Regency Center celebrating the art and style of Edward Gorey. I'm the Artistic Director for the event, and this year I'll be hanging a gallery of primarily gothic, circus-bohemian, moody and dark arts-ish pieces for this, as well as having Claire Mack create a hall of natural wonders filled with selections from Paxton Gate and more. If this is your style, let me know.
YURI'S NIGHT 2011
For the second year in a row, I'm curating a series of 10'x10' booths with hanging art and small-scale sculpture, and a number (to be determined) of large-scale sculptures to display out on the tarmac of NASA's Moffett Field for this two-day event, which takes place April 8 & 9.
Each of these represents an opportunity to show and sell your work, and we can discuss terms once you've expressed your interest in one or more of them. There's yet more to come down the line in 2011, so stay tuned. Hope this finds you all well!
