Hello Everybody,
I hope this finds you all well. It's been a busy Fall so far, finding me curating art for the Treasure Island Music Festival, a gallery show for a Love Fest event at Gallery N!NE, and a photography exhibition for a Burning Man staff party. And we're just getting started! I've got a bunch of opportunities coming up, and would love your participation where appropriate ... please read on, and email me at
wi...@willchase.com if you're interested in exhibiting at any of the following:
Obamarama, November 7 @ Gallery N!NECurating a two-room exhibition for a post-election celebration (assuming Obama wins; if he doesn't, the show's likely canceled as we're on our way to Canada). Seeking Obama-related artwork in any medium. This can also include anti-McCain/Palin artwork, but I'm less inclined to show those as a) I'd rather see this be a positively-focused event, and b) I for one am sick to death of seeing them. :-) November 7th, Gallery N!NE, 9th @ Folsom, SF.
Artumnal Gathering, a Fundraiser for the Black Rock Arts Foundation, November 22 @ Bently Reserve
I'm managing a VIP silent auction as well as curating a gallery of photography for sale for this fundraiser. For the gallery, I'm primarily looking for very high end Burning Man photography, but am willing to consider other fine art photography as well. November 22, Bently Reserve, Battery @ Clay, SF.
Mission Bazaar, December 6-7 @ Mission Armory
Following on the success of their first effort, Paradox Media is producing the second annual Mission Bazaar (
www.missionbazaar.com), a showcase of arts, crafts, and culture. They've asked me to curate artwork for the event, including (2-3) medium scale sculptural centerpieces that will help fill out the cavernous space of The Armory, as well as large banners to hang from the ceiling. I have a budget. December 6-7, Mission Armory, Mission @ 14th, SF.
Sea of Dreams New Years Eve Celebration, December 31 @ The Concourse
This year, Sea of Dreams (
www.seaofdreamsnye.com) has one of the best New Years Eve line-ups around, including Thievery Corporation, Bassnectar, Mutaytor and BLVD. It's going to be a great evening with a big crowd. For the 5th year running, I'm curating a large, eclectic (e.g. no specific theme) gallery of paintings, photography, sculpture (small pieces indoors, large pieces outdoors; possibly fire ... TBD), multimedia (no audio, it's just too loud), and site-specific installations. December 31, Concourse Exhibition Center, 8th @ Brannan, SF.
Edwardian Ball, January 23-25 @ The Regency Center Grand Ballroom
Paradox Media is once again joining up with the Vau de Vire Society to produce the Edwardian Ball (www.edwardianball.com) in all its finery. This awesome 3-day event takes place at The Regency this year. For the second year running, I'll be curating a gallery of Edwardian / Victorian / Steampunk themed painting, photography, small sculpture, and installations. I hope/expect to have a set of flats on which to hang artwork, but that's TBD. January 23-25, The Regency Center, Sutter @ Van Ness, SF.
Project 2048: Artist Residency Program @ Cellspace, Starting November 8
My friend DaveX has initiated an artists residency program at San Francisco's Cellspace (Bryant between 18th & 19th). The 2048 residency program is 4 months in duration with staggered entry dates starting November 8. Artists who are accepted will be provided with living accommodations, a workspace, internet access, and a chance to present their work as the culmination of the residency. The Artist Quarters have a shared kitchen and bathroom and artists are expected to share the upkeep of these areas. Each artist is expected to pay a program fee of $650 per month. There are too many details to list here, so to get those and an application form, visit:

Hope to hear from you.

"What the really great artists do is they're entirely themselves, they've got their own vision, their own way of fracturing reality, and if it's authentic and true, you'll feel it in your nerve endings." - David Foster Wallace
