Hi everyone,

I’m having an issue in Wildlife Insights related to deleting duplicate camera records, and I wanted to check if anyone has experienced something similar.

I initially registered some cameras incorrectly (using deployment names instead of serial numbers), so I’m now cleaning that up. In the process, I ended up with duplicate camera entries (same serial number). I reassigned the deployments to a single correct camera record (the one with “-CAM” in the name).

However, I’ve noticed that:

  • Some duplicate camera records can be deleted without any problem
  • Others cannot be deleted, and I get the message:
“This Device is associated with a Deployment. If you'd like to delete this Device, please first delete the associated Deployment.”

This confuses me because I already moved the deployments I could find to the correct camera. So I’m wondering:

  • Is it possible that there are still hidden or older deployments associated with those camera records?
  • Is there a way to identify all deployments linked to a specific camera?
  • Or could this be related to something else (e.g., metadata or previous associations)?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Hi Maria,

To check which deployments these cameras are linked to, request a download of your project data, including all deployments, and review the deployments.csv.

If the cameras don't appear linked to any active deployments in your project, it's possible they're tied to a deployment in another project within your organization. Unfortunately, there's no easy way to check across all projects right now, so please submit an issue report
with your project ID and a list of camera IDs you're unable to delete, and we'll investigate further. Best,
