Hi there,

We have a large number of students assisting with IDs on a few projects (including snapshot usa), and would like to run them through a training session or two before turning them loose on the actual deployment camera photos.

In the past, we've had them sort photos into folders by species and used camtrapR and some custom R scripts to compare their IDs to other students and/or a "known" set of IDd photos. This allows for us to check IDs and give feedback to students on how they could improve, and catch any issues before they crop up in "real" data.

I thought about creating training deployments with the same images, assigning each to one student, and comparing their results to each other, then deleting those deployments, but I'm not sure how well that would work or if it would create issues on the back end with WI.

If there is a training mode buried in Wildlife Insights somewhere, it would be really great to be able to create a "test/training" deployment that would be flagged as "not real data" somehow on the back end, that we could assign to all students to work through, and get a straightforward accuracy report out the other end to go over with them.

Anyone have suggestions on how best to approach this or know if there is a built-in or standard way to do this sort of training within Wildlife Insights?

Thanks,

Scott

hi Scott, I don't think we have any test-data options. You could do the plan as you suggest but would just need to delete the deployment after wards.   I'd be interested in other people have solutions for this.
cheers
Roland
