In some of my camera deployments, the camera saves multiple folders with images that are named IMG_0001.JPG, IMG_0002.JPG, etc, where the image number starts over at IMG_0001 with each folder saved. Will loading all of these images into a single deployment cause any issues due to duplicate file names? Will wildlife insights recognize these as unique images and record unique data despite the duplicate file name? Do you recommend renaming the files so that they are unique before uploading?

Many thanks,
Christina

Hi Christina,

Wildlife Insights currently does not restrict duplicate filenames in the same deployment. This means that you could upload multiple images named IMG_0001.JPG and each would be associated with a unique record.

However, we're exploring options to improve the image upload process to minimize the number of failed uploads and make it easier to identify which (if any) images did fail. One of the potential solutions is to restrict duplicated file names. We'll be testing this out over the next weeks and assessing the overall impact.

I'd recommend uploading your images as soon as possible to avoid renaming the filenames. Let me know if you have any other questions!
