This Eastern Water Dragon (Physignathus lesueurii lesueurii) was observed in the Mt Mee area approx
50 km NW of Brisbane, Qld, Australia.
The Eastern Water Dragon is a large lizard with reports of individuals up to 90 cm long.
The individual in this photo would be at least half a metre in length.
Note the length of the tail in the inset picture.
It is found in the eastern coastal area of Australia along margins of creeks, rivers and lakes.
It is normally extremely wary although I have seen numbers of them tolerating human activity in such
places as plant nurseries near water features.
