Hi,
The Brown Honeyeaters (Lichmera indistincta) appear to have been breeding quite well around my place
in SE Queensland this year.
There are quite a few juveniles flitting and feeding around my backyard at the moment.
The Brown Honeyeater is the most common honeyeater I get in my yard although the Noisy Miners
(Manorina melanocephala) have been building up their numbers here over the past couple of years.
Note the lack of the yellow triangle behind the eye and the obvious yellow gape indicating that this
is a juvenile bird.
The yellow triangle behind the eye is acquired over several months after fledging.
This is the first time I have been able to witness a Brown Honeyeater taking an insect although
insects are listed as a food source for this species.
The insect appears to be some sort of Nymphidae species.
