This juvenile Crested Pigeon (Ocyphaps lophotes) seemed to have the best of both worlds: alternating
between being fed by its parent and grazing on the local ground cover.
The Crested Pigeon is a common pigeon in the more open, fairly dry parts of Australia.
It feeds on the ground. It can be quite 'tame' at times and this adult bird came to within a metre
of me while I was photographing it and its offspring.
The Adult bird here had a severely deformed left foot but obviously this was not a real problem to
its viability.
