Allegany County is home to fourteen public elementary schools, four public middle schools, three public high schools, one technical school, and one alternative placement program. All twenty-two schools are staffed by highly qualified teachers. Every day, these schools and staff do amazing things for our students.

Each year we would like to take the opportunity to highlight some of these accomplishments, programs, and more. Several schools will be "featured" on a weekly basis, and then their highlights will move into a folder under the Accolades section of our website for the public to view all year long.

We encourage you to take a moment to enjoy our weekly ACPS highlights and visit the archives to view an individual school spotlight to see what great things are happening in Allegany County Public Schools!

On November 9, 2022, John Humbird Elementary School hosted a Veterans Day celebration. ACPS reminds students and families that it is important for students to be in school on this holiday so that they have the opportunity to learn what Veterans Day is and why it is celebrated annually on November 11th.

ACPS will use three asynchronous days first if the district is closed due to inclement weather. Up to five synchronous days will be used, if needed, beyond the three asynchronous days. For the synchronous (real-time learning with a teacher) days, students will need to login to Schoology and attend their classes.

The game was released in Japan on September 17, 2015; in North America on November 20, 2015; in Europe on February 19, 2016; and in Australia on February 20, 2016;

Like its predecessor, Super Mystery Dungeon is a dungeon-crawling rogue-like role-playing game featuring 3D characters and environments. Players assume the role of one of 20 Pokmon (which include all 18 starting Pokmon from all six main series generations, along with Pikachu and Riolu),[5] who is joined by a partner, chosen out of the remaining 19 Pokmon, who accompany them in their journey through procedurally-generated dungeons filled with enemies and traps as they help stop a major crisis and save the Pokmon world.[6] The game features all 720 released Pokmon at the time of release.[5]

The player wakes up transformed into a Pokmon and only remembering that they used to be a human.[7] When they are attacked by a group of Beheeyem, a Nuzleaf helps them escape[7] and gives them shelter in Serene Village. There, they meet their partner, who dreams of joining the Expedition Society but has become the town pariah due to his overeager nature. The partner sympathizes with the player's outsider status and gives them one of his Harmony Scarves. Beheeyem are spotted outside the village, forcing the pair to flee to the Expedition Society headquarters.

Upon arriving, Ampharos inducts them into the Expedition Society. The pair learn that Pokmon have been turned to stone by a malicious entity, including the legendary Pokmon Entei. The Society finds evidence that Krookodile, a local thug, is the culprit. The player, partner, and Nuzleaf follow Krookodile up Revelation Mountain. At the top, the group discovers a sealed spring that can return petrified Pokmon to normal. They learn that Nuzleaf paid Krookodile to go to Revelation Mountain, and that Nuzleaf was the culprit behind the Pokmon turning to stone. Nuzleaf and the legendary Pokmon Yveltal petrify the player, partner, Suicune, and Raikou, destroy the spring.
