The user interface was never too beautiful; almost all of the effort was spent on things below the user interface (which reminds us of an iceberg, always). From the 2nd release onward, the converter contains also mapping files to assign reference flows and other elements from one format to the other. Over time, the import and export functionalities from the converter have also been implemented in openLCA, but the format converter is still available as stand-alone tool for users of other LCA software packages, such as SimaPro for example where only recently (in 2016) an ILCD format export was added.SoftwareopenLCAFormat converterAboutStatus and usageMapping filesDownloadsHistory, older documentationRelated services & projectsLCA Collaboration ServerCurrent status, usageThe latest release of the converter is version 3.1.3 from end of 2015. The converter is a Java application, its use should be straightforward. You need to have Java installed on your computer though.

To use the converter, unzip the archive if you downloaded the zip archive, or open directly the Jar file. A database subfolder with the mapping files is created. If you want to modify or overwrite the mappings, close the converter first and modify the mapping files then; making a backup of the files to be edited is recommended. Further details are explained in the format converter documentation which is available on the resources page.

If you have a recommendation for improvement, let us know. We know the converter has been used quite often, for example for creating the basis for the Chinese CLCD database. We also understand that for more uncommon tasks, the converter alone will not be able to directly provide the final result, but the result will need to be fine-tuned. Therefore, if you are working on or considering a possible major conversion task, we would be interested to know as well. We are experienced in providing smooth, efficient conversion also from and to all major LCA software systems.

Also in 2015, the Joint Research Centre of the European Commission released new mapping files for the converter which have been developed in coordination with GreenDelta, and with broad input from recognised experts, specifically from ecoinvent to ILCD (xls file, 4 MB). They are included in the format converter in the latest version.

The format converter is now almost 10 years released. Our initial hope, that releasing the converter as open source will lead to additions and improvements by others, has not really materialized yet for the tool, but this may still change. For the mapping lists, some additions have been recently published by JRC of the European Commission.

To possibly support understanding of the converter, documentation regarding previous released versions of the format converter and documentation about the format conversion and its shortcomings is provided below.

Since ecoinvent 3 was not released yet at the time when the EcoSpold02 format was implemented in the converter, the EcoSpold02 converter format follows the official format specification which is different from the format as it is used now in the ecoinvent database and in the ecoeditor, see also the comment on the open source page.

The converter supported EcoSpold01,, ELCD (not ILCD, which is the predecessor), and the Swedish ISO14048/TS_IMI format. The documentation covers EcoSpold01 and ELCD. For all fields, requirement, occurrence, nomenclature and pattern, and the data type are assessed, as follows:

The newly released Fujifilm GFX camera has a sensor slightly larger than the standard 35mm full frame sensor. When full frame Canon/Nikon lenses are used with Fujifilm GFX, there is a possibility that serious vignetting may occur, especially for wide angle lenses.

The Laowa Magic Format Converter (MFC) is different from the simple GFX adapter existing in the market. The GFX adapter currently available in the market simply adapts the Canon/Nikon lenses onto the Fujifilm G-mount body with no resizing on the image circle. However, due to the relatively smaller image circle of Canon/Nikon full frame lenses, most of the them are not able to completely fill the Fujifilm GFX sensors, resulting in a vignetting (Dark Corners) or heavily degraded peripheral sharpness in the images.

Our Magic Format Converter (MFC) took advantage of the short flange distance of mirrorless cameras and incorporated a patented optics system to expand the image circle of the lens without compromising the image quality. The enlarged image also corrects the vignetting and maintains the optical performance of your lens in the medium format system.

The Magic Format Converter (MFC) is particularly useful for ultra-wide angle lenses. Vignetting tends to be stronger when we adapt an ultra-wide angle full frame lenses onto the GFX sensors. By using the MFC, GFX users will be able to enjoy an ultra-wide angle of view without the need to crop away all unusable corners of the images. When the MFC is used with our Laowa 12mm f/2.8 Zero-D lens, it will become a roughly 17mm f/4 lens in GFX-50S/50R/100 cameras. The angle of view will be around 116 (equivalent to appr. 13mm lens in 35mm format), making it one of the widest lens available for the GFX system. The MFC opens up a lot more ultra-wide angle lens options for the new Fujifilm GFX camera and increases the compatibility of full frame lenses to the Medium Format cameras.

The unix time stamp is a way to track time as a running total of seconds. This count starts at the Unix Epoch on January 1st, 1970 at UTC. Therefore, the unix time stamp is merely the number of seconds between a particular date and the Unix Epoch. It should also be pointed out (thanks to the comments from visitors to this site) that this point in time technically does not change no matter where you are located on the globe. This is very useful to computer systems for tracking and sorting dated information in dynamic and distributed applications both online and client side.

On this date the Unix Time Stamp will cease to work due to a 32-bit overflow. Before this moment millions of applications will need to either adopt a new convention for time stamps or be migrated to 64-bit systems which will buy the time stamp a "bit" more time.

I would like to know if someone has a very generic script I could use to convert my data to BIDS format.
My script is not the most efficient and every time I use an other data structure, I have to re-do some modification on the script.
It is very time consuming and not very efficient.

Pandoc understands a number of useful markdown syntax extensions, including document metadata (title, author, date); footnotes; tables; definition lists; superscript and subscript; strikeout; enhanced ordered lists (start number and numbering style are significant); running example lists; delimited code blocks with syntax highlighting; smart quotes, dashes, and ellipses; markdown inside HTML blocks; and inline LaTeX. If strict markdown compatibility is desired, all of these extensions can be turned off.

LaTeX math (and even macros) can be used in markdown documents. Several different methods of rendering math in HTML are provided, including MathJax and translation to MathML. LaTeX math is converted (as needed by the output format) to unicode, native Word equation objects, MathML, or roff eqn.

and pandoc will convert it into a properly formatted citation using any of hundreds of CSL styles (including footnote styles, numerical styles, and author-date styles), and add a properly formatted bibliography at the end of the document. The bibliographic data may be in BibTeX, BibLaTeX, CSL JSON, or CSL YAML format. Citations work in every output format.

Pandoc includes a Haskell library and a standalone command-line program. The library includes separate modules for each input and output format, so adding a new input or output format just requires adding a new module.

When you're using a version of Word that's newer than the version used to create your document, you typically see Compatibility Mode in the title bar. Compatibility Mode temporarily disables new or enhanced Word features so that the document can still be edited by people using the earlier version of Word. Compatibility Mode also preserves the layout of the document.

Converting the document to the newer format lets you use newer features, but conversion might create difficulties for people who are using earlier versions of Word to edit the document. If you convert the document, they might not be able to work with certain portions of the document that were created in the newer versions of Word.

You can either work in Compatibility Mode or you can convert your document to the Word 2016 file format. The Word Convert command clears the compatibility options so that the document layout appears as it would if it had been created in Word 2016 .

To create a new copy of the document in Word 2016 mode, select Save As, and then choose the location and the folder where you want to save the new copy. Type a new name for the document in the File name box, and then select Word Document in the Save as type list. Make sure the box next to Maintain compatibility with previous versions of Word is cleared.
