Team,

While creating Password Vault on Linux,  we can see that a new file VAULT.dat also g ets created. This is an overhead (maintaining over release to release). Is it really necessary to have this file along with vault.keystore?

I tried deleting it, but wildfly didnt start properly after that.

I believe for the legacy vault the .dat file is the file that contains the encrypted values so if you delete that file you are deleting the values that you need to be looking up.

Vault support has now been removed from the later WildFly versions where we support the Elytron credential store instead, this is based on a single file for the storage of credentials.

Got it, thanks.
That would imply that vault.dat needs to be maintained till the point we migrate to the credentials store.
