Hi Weed Watchers!

Just a heads up that my last full-time day at The Mountaineers is this Friday, August 16 (leaving to start grad school at the University of Washington). After a bit of personal leave, I will return on a very limited basis in late September to wrap up a few projects and help train my successor (who will likely be hired in October).

Please make note of the following information in case you need any support with the Weed Watchers Program while I am out:

-          Invasive species ID assistance: The best way to get help with plant ID is to post them on the Weed Watchers Photo Log: http://wildweedwatchers.wordpress.com/  Sasha Shaw of King County has been great at IDing via comments on the blog and Sarah Callaghan of the Forest Service will also be monitoring and posting comments to your pictures.

o   Posting to the blog is *easy* and doesn’t require you to create any new accounts.  Simply email your pictures to this address:  hohu7...@post.wordpress.com   Any text in the subject line will become the blog post title.  Any text in the body of the email becomes the content (so remove your email signatures before posting!).  Pictures as attachments will be posted.  By sharing your photos, you help us all learn more about the weeds and look-alikes!

-          All volunteer documents are online at: http://www.mountaineers.org/source/Communities/documentArchive.cfm?section=unknown&CmtyId=168

-          For GPS loans & returns, please contact Tess Wendel at The Mountaineers: te...@mountaineers.org

-          Questions, looking for partners for a hike, etc?  Send an email to this group at wilderness-w...@googlegroups.com

Thanks everyone for getting out there and doing these surveys – we are really making some progress this summer.  We will make our best efforts to keep the trail list updated so that you can see what has been surveyed.  It will be posted on our document archive.

I look forward to continuing to stay involved with this project as a volunteer – I really enjoy these weed surveys.  Thanks for making this program work, everyone!

Sarah
