Hi Weed Watchers! I would like to share with you the updated Wilderness Weed Watchers volunteer manual, the trail list and news about some upcoming group surveys. As you will see in the manual, our survey collection methods and weeds of interest are the same but our reporting system is a little different from last year. Please have a look and don’t hesitate to let me know if you need more information about how to contribute to the project this year!
A couple key items:
- Updated trail spreadsheet (attached). Trails highlighted in orange reflect limited access due to road closures or mine remediation at Monte Cristo. Click on the trail name for more details. Trails highlighted in green reflect commitments by volunteers to survey these trails this summer. Do you know where you will be hiking? Let me know and I will mark your trail as “adopted”. You are welcomed to survey green trails, but may want to prioritize other trails that are not adopted.
- Group surveys: We have a couple group surveys scheduled and more to come! A group survey is a great way to practice survey methods and gain confidence as a weed watcher.
