The trail list has been updated again and there are still plenty of great hikes to choose from! If you don't have a ton of time to research the best of the best you are in luck, here is a short list of available trails with rewarding scenery and fresh air. You just have to go look for those pesky WEEDS while you are having FUN!
- #1177 Summit Lake- Clearwater Wilderness: The trail is 2.5 miles in and will take you to Summit Lake (shorelines are a great place to survey) where you should see plenty of mountain views and wildflowers. Check here for more details from the U.S. Forest Service.
- If you are looking for a longer hike (nearly 10 miles one way) with wildflowers and ridge tops this one may be for you. Bald Eagle Mountain is open in the Henry M Jackson Wilderness, there may have a bit of snow, but is passable if you do not take your stock animals!! Please note this one is listed as 650.1 and 650.2 on our trail list. Just let us know how much ground you cover. Also visit Washington Trails Association for more info.
- Want to take family or friends on a hike and show off your plant knowledge? Enjoy views of Mt Rainier, flowers and maybe even some wildlife on the Rainier View Trail. This 2 mile hike connects with several others if you would like to continue exploring or camping in the Norse Peak Wilderness.
- Visit Wild Sky Wilderness and Henry M Jackson in one visit. The West Cady Ridge Trail will provide great views and vibrant colors well into the fall. The trail itself is nearly 8 miles long, however the section we need surveyed is only 2.8 miles, so after your "work" is done you can enjoy the rest!
- Need a workout? This hike sounds like a challenge with rewards! Tomyhoi Lake Trail in the Mt Baker Wilderness is 4 miles long with the chance to enter a wildflower meadow, see Canadian and American Peaks, and the lake if snow conditions permit passage. This hike is recommenced for experienced hikers and please note there are black bears in the area. Check current conditions here.
Hope these suggestions excite you as much as they excite me! I wish I could go on all of them :)
